Lisa Knee

Lisa Knee is a Tax Partner and Co-Leader of the national Real Estate practice and leader for the national Real Estate Private Equity Group, with over 25 years of experience. Her expertise covers a range of real estate funds and transactions, including acquisitions, refinancing, like-kind exchanges, joint venture agreements, and structuring tax rehabilitation credits for a variety of clients, such as leading real estate owners, operators, investors, family offices, and developers, in addition to hospitality companies, world-renowned restaurant groups, and financial service firms. Lisa has extensive experience in the use of private REITs in fund structures. She recently has been involved in structuring and consulting clients on the implementation of Qualified Opportunity Funds. Lisa has also consulted with large boutique hotel groups on their acquisitions, dispositions, partner buy-outs, property renovations and rebuilds.

Lisa has worked on a variety of highly complex transactions for clients, including domestic and international tax structuring for portfolio companies, management companies, and individual owners. Her legal background has also made her adept in mitigating tax issues and providing expert litigation services involving partnership disputes.

Lisa has been featured and quoted in various business publications including Bloomberg, Fundfire, and Private Funds Management for her insights into real estate and tax planning topics. She was also featured in a series highlighting industry visionaries and uncovering the stories behind some of the top development projects in New York City. She has interviewed leaders such as Silverstein Properties chairman Larry Silverstein and real estate tycoon Richard LeFrak. Lisa is the co-editor of Qualified Opportunity Funds, A Guide for Real Estate Investors.

Lisa also frequently develops and moderates Q&A and panel presentations with some of the biggest names in commercial real estate for events. Most recently, Crain’s New York Business named Lisa as one of the Notable Women in Accounting and Consulting for 2020 (she was also recognized in 2018). She was named a 2020 Woman of Influence in the Consultant/Advisor category by GlobeSt.com. Additionally, she was also honored as a “NYC Power Woman in Real Estate” by Bisnow in 2016, 2018 and 2019.
